Account Security Best Practices
Last updated: March 2026
Your NATA Career Center account contains personal information, resumes, and employment history. Following a few security best practices significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access.
Use a strong, unique password
Create a password that is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Do not reuse passwords from other accounts. A password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane) makes this easy.
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA)
Go to Account Settings → Security and enable two-factor authentication. Choose an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy) rather than SMS when possible, as app-based 2FA is more resistant to SIM-swapping attacks.
Review connected sessions
Under Account Settings → Security, you can see all active sessions for your account. If you see a device or location you do not recognize, click "Revoke" to end that session immediately.
Keep your email address current
Password reset links and security alerts are sent to your registered email. Make sure this address is one you actively monitor and that your email account itself is secured with a strong password and 2FA.
Be cautious of phishing emails
NATA Career Center will never ask for your password via email. If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from us, do not click any links. Forward it to support@nata.org so we can investigate.
Pro Tip
After any major life event — changing employers, moving, or a data breach at another service — take 5 minutes to update your NATA Career Center password and review your connected sessions.
